ENDURE YOUR CROSS, FOCUS ON GOD; IT’LL PAY OFF!

…Jesus, …who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross…” (Hebrews 12:2)

I had a serious back problem some years ago. It was so bad that I did all my routine activities in pain. In pain, I sat, walked, slept, climbed stairs, shaved, washed, etc. My work suffered greatly too!

As you might expect, I went to my GP, who gave me some strong pain medicines and sent me out to do some tests. No doubt, he attended to me well. But the more he did, the worse my condition became. The pain was the cross I had to endure!

I went to more doctors with time, and all of them said I needed surgery to put my back right. It was to be a complex one with a poor outcome. From it, I could be paralyzed from my waist down. I did not want to do it, but I had no choice. I was in too much pain, and I needed a break.

Some days before the operation, I took my car to a garage for repairs. But I left my wallet at home. That means I had no money on me. So, I trekked nearly four miles back to my house as I could not hire a taxi. The pain I felt as I walked was beyond words. I cried out to God to help me!

After a while, I realized I could walk a little better, though I was still in pain. I was thrilled, and I moved on! Then I decided to walk, pray, and fast daily from the next day, believing God to finish His good work on me. Guess what! I walked better and with less pain day by day.

In the end, I didn’t have the operation, for I healed completely. I endured my cross and focused on God, and it paid off! With ease, I now walk, sit, sleep, climb stairs, shave, wash, etc. Praise God!

We all have our crosses. While some are small, others are big and hard to bear. They include job loss, bad luck, and lack. Also, among them are barrenness, sickness, and grief. Others are wars, disasters, etc.

Which cross are you carrying now? Is it too heavy for you? And are you planning to give up on it? Please, don’t; endure it! Pray about it without ceasing (1 Thessalonians 5:17), and have faith that you’ll be fine, even if nothing backs your position now (2 Corinthians 5:7).

Before long, God will deliver you (Psalm 50:15), and you’ll have joy in your life again (Psalm 30:5) in Jesus’ name. Amen.

GOD WANTS TO HEAL YOUR WOUND!

…I will restore health to you, And heal you of your wounds, says the Lord…” (Jeremiah 30:17)

I loved playing football as a young boy, but I was not good enough to make it into any serious team. However, I played with my mates from time to time, and I made sure no one messed up around me.

But most times, some boys outpaced and outclassed me. And each time that happened, all I heard in my head was REVENGE! REVENGE!! REVENGE!!! Then, I wasted no time in rough tackling and injuring them!

One day, I faced a smaller boy than me at our local football field. He played for the opposite team, and He was very good. He scored many goals against us and made a big mess of me that day. Without wasting time, I went all out to injure him.

But he was too fast, and I hurt myself badly in an attempt to injure him. I sustained a big wound on my right knee, which put me out of action for several weeks. Moving around was a big deal for me during that time.

The wound healed after a while but left an ugly scar behind, which pained, itched, and worried me for a long time. It has now disappeared; thank God! I no longer have an ugly, painful, and itchy scar troubling me.

Physical wounds are common; we all have had them at one time or another. While some left ugly scars that remained for a long time or forever, others healed well and disappeared with time. These days, doctors help people manage their wounds.

Apart from physical wounds, we also have emotional wounds, which are unseen. They are harder to manage and often accompany life events like abuse, the death of a loved one, ill health, job loss, a broken home, violence, wars, etc.

Emotional wounds affect people more than physical wounds and take longer to heal. They remind us of our difficult times. They help us avoid our past mistakes. They also make it possible for us to guide others better when they need us.

God is excellent at healing wounds; you can’t fault Him (Ecclesiastes 3:14). Do you have a wound that you are dealing with right now? And have you done all that you could to it all to no avail? Are you fed up and about to give up on it? If you are, please, pay attention to me.

First, realize that wounds are common. They affect people everywhere, so you are not alone. But they don’t last forever (2 Corinthians 4:17), and they won’t overwhelm you (1 Corinthians 10:13). Besides, they are to benefit you in the long run (James 1:2-4, Romans 5:3-4).

God wants to heal your wound (Jeremiah 30:17) through Jesus Christ (John 14:6). Please, note that God equipped Him for this task. (Acts 10:38) Therefore, pray to Him about your wound today. Maybe you did so before, and you are yet to see any change in your condition.

Or you feel God healed you earlier, but your wound has now returned. Don’t worry; pray to Him again; He is not tired of you (John 6:37). He will heal you once more (Matthew 11:28), and you will have reasons to be grateful to Him in the end in Jesus’ name. Amen.

MAY YOUR KINGDOM COME, LORD!

The Lord’s Prayer is a very popular aspect of the Bible. Many people learned it by heart while growing up. You can find it in Mathew 6:9-13. Verse 10 says:

May your Kingdom come soon. May your will be done on earth, as it is in Heaven.” (NLT)

This write-up shall focus on the phrase Kingdom in the Lord’s prayer. Two words, King and Domain, fused, to make it. While a king rules over a place, his domain is where his words carry the utmost weight. And when he arrives at a location, often with a part of His Kingdom, his power shows, and activities begin quickly.

God is the King in the Kingdom of Heaven. He goes around with His Kingdom! Like earthly kings, God can be invited by individuals, communities, nations, etc., for one reason or another. But He heeds peoples’ invitations only through Jesus Christ (John 14:6).

If you invite Him into any area of your life today, as the Psalmist did, He will come with His Kingdom. Power will then manifest, and good things will begin to happen to you. For example, you will enjoy:

  1. Joy

In Acts 8:4-8, Phillip preached Jesus Christ in Samaria, and the people accepted him and took to all he said. In a way, they asked God to bring His Kingdom into their land. In the end, they enjoyed great joy

If you lack joy in your life as we speak, please, invite God to bring His Kingdom into it. He will not ignore you, and you will enjoy great joy after in Jesus’ name. Amen.

  1. Calm

In Mark 4:35-41, Jesus Christ and His disciples were in a boat on the sea. A big storm soon began, and Jesus was fast asleep. They had to wake Him up to save them. He arose and rebuked the storm. In short, God took His Kingdom into their situation through Jesus Christ, and there was a great calm soon after.

Is your life or anything about you being threatened by a ‘storm’ lately? If it is, ask God to bring His Kingdom into the picture, and there will be great calm in Jesus’ name. Amen.

  1. Salvation

Zacchaeus (Luke 19:1-10) was a tax collector and a crook. He knew Jesus Christ was coming to his area. So, he joined the crowd to seek Him, but his short stature hindered him. He had to climb a sycamore tree to view Him. When Jesus reached it, He looked up and asked Zacchaeus to come down. Next, He followed him home and gave him salvation. That is, Jesus took His Kingdom to his life.

Jesus is also ready to take His Kingdom to your life and give you salvation. He wants you to be born again if you are not yet! After doing this, then you can boldly invite Him to bring His Kingdom into your troubles. He won’t say no, and you will have joy, calm, healing, protection, salvation, etc., afterward. Besides, you will make it to Heaven at the end (John 3:3), in Jesus’ name. Amen.

GO AND WASH!

…Go and wash in the Jordan seven times, and your flesh shall be restored to you, and you shall be clean.” (2 Kings 5:10)

Naaman was the commander of the army of the king of Syria. He was a great man who won battles for his country. But, he was a leper, a limiting and degrading disease. As one might expect, he did all he could to overcome his ailment, all to no avail.

One day, a female servant in his household suggested that he go to Israel, her country, and meet a Prophet named Elisha who could cure him. She gave her advice through Naaman’s wife! One thing then led to another, and he did as advised.

Naaman met the prophet in Israel and expected him to do some magic or make some landmark pronouncements before his healing could take place. But the man of God did none of both. He did not even come out to meet him face to face. He simply sent words to Naaman thus:

Go and wash in the Jordan seven times, and your flesh shall be restored to you, and you shall be clean.”

Naaman felt slighted and wondered why he should wash in River Jordan while his country had better rivers. He refused to do as told and went away in a rage. But his servants urged him to change his mind.

He later did and washed seven times in the Jordan, and his flesh became like that of a little child. His problem was solved once and for all! ‘Go and wash’ was a clear instruction to Naaman, which He obeyed and got healed.

It should come to your mind, too, at any time God tells you to do something. Are you having some issues in your life right now? Are they so bad that you can’t even discuss them with anyone?

And have you done all you could to resolve them without success? If you have, now is the time to approach God for help. He will tell you what to do. Is He asking you to change your job for a new one?

Is the Lord asking you to accept a marriage proposal from someone? Is He telling you to acquire a new skill or start a new business? Is He nudging you to write a book, compose a song, or produce a movie? Is God asking you to set up a ministry or serve Him in a specific way? ETC.

If He is, He wants to solve your problem once and for all. He wants you to move from where you are to where He wants you to be, that is, a better place. Please, obey him! GO AND WASH!! Maybe you ‘washed’ before, but things haven’t changed for you; don’t worry, ‘WASH’ again.

If you do, before long, you will have rest (Matthew 11:28), safety (Deuteronomy 20:4), plus joy (Isaiah 35:10). You will have strength and peace too (Psalm 29:11). And God will heal your broken heart (Psalm 147:3). He will promote you (Psalm 75:6-7 (KJV)), and you will prosper, for that is His wish for you (3 John 2).

Not only that, but your children will become mighty and blessed (Psalm 112:1-2 (NIV)), and you will also be called blessed (Malachi 3:12), in Jesus’ name. Amen.

LOOK FOR GOD WHOLEHEARTEDLY; YOU’LL FIND HIM!

When you look for me, you will find me. When you wholeheartedly seek me (Jeremiah 29:13 (GW)).”

Alan, not his real name, was my friend at the university. His father died when he was young, and his mum catered for him and his siblings with much struggle. He had very few possessions and had trouble settling down in the Uni because he was hard up. His social life was zero!

At a point, he had a road crash, from which he suffered a head injury that troubled him all the time. Regardless, Alan was very cheerful, friendly, and kind to everyone. He studied as much as he could, went for his hospital appointments, looked for God wholeheartedly, found and prayed to Him for help.

Before long, his health improved, and he studied longer and better. In the end, he graduated from the university on schedule, barely missing first-class honors with a few points. Today, he is a University Professor, producing future world changers, history makers, and destiny builders.

Alan looked for and found God, and He helped him. Are you hard-pressed like him at present? Is someone delaying your progress and making life difficult for you? Are you out of a job, and you have no hope of getting another one? Are you ill right now?

Are you troubled that you are single while your mates are married with children? And as a married individual, is someone disturbing your spouse, children, or any of your loved ones? Is any of your children misbehaving at this time?

Are you currently mourning the death of a loved one? Are you involved in a tough lawsuit? Is a system working against you, and you cannot do anything about it? Is your business in ruins as we speak? Or are you in debt with no hope of settling it?

As a student, are you finding it hard to continue your studies? Or, as a Christian, are you struggling with your salvation lately? And do you want to dedicate your life to Jesus Christ anew? ETC.

If your answer is yes to any of the questions above, then cheer up. First, what you are going through is not uncommon, and God will help you out of it (1 Corinthians 10:13). Besides, it is temporary and will make you a better person in the long run (2 Corinthians 4:17, James 1:2-4).

As you move on with 2022, please, identify where you have problems in your life. Then, look for God wholeheartedly to help you with them; you’ll find Him!

Maybe you have done so before, but nothing seemed to have changed; don’t worry, look for Him again. You’ll find Him one day, and He’ll help you (Isaiah 41:13), and your joy will be full in Jesus’ name. Amen.

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

GOD WILL HELP YOU OVERCOME YOUR FEARS!

For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.” (2 Timothy 1:7)

I attended an intensive computer appreciation course in a famous Academy in Benin-City, Nigeria, in the past. It was designed to equip the participants with computer skills to be more effective in our chosen careers and prepare us for leadership roles.

I enjoyed the course a great deal, and I planned to come out on top of it from the onset. Sadly, I struggled to combine it with my medical practice after a short time, and I feared it might affect my work badly.

My fear soon turned to reality, and I had to choose between the course and my medical career. I chose the latter! But before I carried out my decision, I discussed it with a friend. Thank goodness, he saw through my fear and said it was not of God.

2 Timothy 1:7 quickly came to my mind. I recited it on and on and prayed to God to help me overcome my fear on the course. Before long, I felt immense strength surging through my body, and I reunited with my classmates without delay.

I worked hard to get to my class’s top in the following days and weeks. Guess what! I completed the course well and on time. I also scored distinction in each of the papers I sat for in the final examination.

Not only that, I finished as the best graduating student in my class and the entire academy for that season. God helped me overcome my fear, and I excelled in tasks I once dreaded. He has plans to do the same thing for you too (Jeremiah 29:11 (NIV)). Please, give Him a chance!

As you move towards the end of 2021 and the start of 2022, I urge you not to fear what has been hindering you to date. First, it is only for a while (2 Corinthians 4:17). God will make it possible for you to bear it (1 Corinthians 10:13). And you will emerge from it better off (James 1:2-4).

Please, do not fear the problems linked to your background, past, education, age, and resources anymore. Besides, do not fear what is happening to your health, children, spouse, business, etc., these days.

Instead, pray to God about them; He will not let you down (Psalm 55:22). Moreover, have faith in Him that He will sort you out at some point, and He will (Hebrews 11:6).

I assure you that you will enjoy a good frame of mind, and the chains that had kept you bound all this while will break into pieces. Sicknesses, bad breaks, harmful habits, lack, restricted thinking, poor judgment, etc., will cease to be a part of your life.

You will then begin to do what you found hard before and shine in areas you thought were beyond your reach. Soon, people will notice you and give glory to God for your life in Jesus’ name. Amen

GOD WILL TURN YOUR NO TO A YES!

For all the promises of God in Him are Yes, and in Him Amen, to the glory of God through us.” (2 Corinthians 1:20)

Towards the end of my training in medical school, I landed in a lecturer’s bad books due to no fault of mine. A time soon came, and he had to examine me in one of the major courses. He was very glad to have me and swore to deal with me.

As expected, he made the exercise hard for me by interrupting me on and on. I knew he was all out to provoke me! Sadly, I played into his hands. I got angry, talked to him rudely, and stormed out of his office. As a result, he failed me. That was a big NO for me to leave the University on time.

I went home later that day and told my mum what I had done. Of course, she was unhappy with me. She told me I should not have been that angry. She then advised me always to be patient. Well, I said I was sorry. I also said I would do better next time. In the end, she prayed for me and asked God to help me out.

Some days after, I went back to my Uni to find out that I had another chance to face a different teacher. I was very glad! I later presented my paper to him, and I did very well. That is, God turned my No to a Yes! And that paved the way for me to leave the Uni in good time.

Is there a No in your life right now? Is it hindering you? And does it appear to be permanent? Are you on the verge of giving up? If you are, please, pay attention to me. God can turn it to a Yes! Yes, for good health (Psalm 41:3) and long life (Psalm 91:16).

Your promotion will also get a Yes from God (Psalm 75:6-7 (KJV)). And you will prosper; He wants you to do so (Psalm 35:27). Are you looking for a good job, a good spouse, a good house, etc.? If you are, then rejoice! God will favor you, and you will get a Yes for them (Psalm 84:11).

There will be a loud Yes for your children, and God will save them (Isaiah 49:25). Are you barren? Do you want to have a child of your own? If you do, a Yes is in the offing (Psalm 37:4)! Are you sad or grieving at the moment? If you are, a Yes is coming by way of joy soon (Psalm 30:5).

Kindly commit your No into God’s hands today, and a Yes will come before long. Please, wait for it! (Habakkuk 2:3) In the end, your joy will be full, and your life will not remain the same again, in Jesus’ name. Amen.
