Last month, we looked at Part (1) of the series titled ‘Finishing Well in Life’. In it, we examined what it means to finish well in life, and established the fact that we need the assistance of God to do so. In addition, we looked at the names of some people who finished well in life, and those who unfortunately did not. You can read the entire piece via my website, by clicking the following link: http://mindofchrist.org.uk/finishing-well-in-life-1/.
Today, we shall look at Part (2) of the series, and it shall concentrate mainly on the conditions we must satisfy, before we can be adjudged to have finished well in life. We must:
1. Be born again at some point in our lives.
This is the starting point, and it is very important! Without it, we cannot make Heaven; the final home of all devoted Christians (John 3:3). Are you born again? If you are, well done! But, if you are not then, settle this requirement today, as tomorrow may be too late.
2. Run our earthly races completely focused on Jesus Christ.
This requirement is also very important, and it is prescribed in the Bible (Hebrews 12:1-2). Friend, if you do not focus on Jesus Christ while running your earthly race, you will derail before long, and the Devil will take over your life, and you may not finish it well (John 10:10). Please take heed (1 Corinthians 10:12).
3. Reproduce ourselves in people.
King David reproduced himself in the legendary King Solomon, while Elijah reproduced himself in a determined Elisha. Apostle Paul reproduced himself in committed Timothy, and Jesus Christ reproduced himself in dedicated Apostles. All these great personalities finished well in life! So, if you too want to finish well in life, then you must strive to reproduce yourself in good people, who will carry on strongly after you.
4. Impact peoples’ lives positively.
Are you just coasting through life without paying attention to people, and their welfare? If you are, then you might not finish well in life, and you might not attain heaven either. Please, as much as you can, go out of your way to help people; make their day, encourage them, pray for/with them, bless them, and lessen their burdens. And you can be sure that God will reward you richly in the end (Matthew 25:31-44), in Jesus name. Amen!
5. Live our lives fulfilled.
King David finished very well as a fulfilled man (Acts 13:36). He won all his battles (2 Samuel 22:40), reigned successfully in Israel, died at a good old age, and was buried in the city of David. Last but not the least, his son, Solomon, succeeded him (1 Chronicles 29:26-28, 1 Kings 2:10). You too can finish well in life as a fulfilled person, and God is willing to help you (Isaiah 41:10).
We shall take Part (3) of this write- up next month. Please find time to join us.
Father Lord, I commit my beloved ones into your able hands this month. Please bless them in all ways possible, lift them up, and help them to do those things that will make them finish well in life. In the end father, let them not miss Heaven, in Jesus name. Amen.
Jesus is Lord!
