I used to work in the Health Services of an institution in Nigeria at one time. Our catchment area was sizable, but there were only two of us, medical doctors, covering it, and we were constantly overworked. No doubt, we needed another medical Doctor on board.

Before long, we got one! He was my junior in hierarchy, since I graduated from the University before him. But to my surprise, he was placed right above me. Naturally, I felt slighted and unhappy by this act of injustice, and I made my view known to my boss. Sadly, he felt he did the right thing. According to him, we needed a Doctor, and he got one at all cost.

Some well-meaning people within the institution then, also intervened on my behalf, all to no avail. After a while, some youths in my town decided to step in, and their intention was to give my boss, his handlers, and the new Doctor, the hassles they would never forget in a hurry, for humiliating a homeboy. But, I restrained them, because I believe that wasn’t the right thing to do. Moreover, the battle was really not mine, but, God’s (2 Chronicles 20:15).

Anyway, I took my case to God for adjudication (Isaiah 41:21)! Meanwhile, I continued to treat my patients decently, and I tried my best to be at peace with everyone (Romans 12:18), including my boss, his handlers, and the new Doctor. Then one day, during our prayer meeting, we were told in the spirit that my trial at work, was at the instance of God to show forth His power (Exodus 14:4). I became very excited!

A couple of weeks later, someone notified me of a letter, which came in from the commission supervising our institution and its kind nationwide. Its focal point was that all Medical Officers in each institution, should be regraded immediately, taking into consideration their years of graduation. As a result, I was moved from my lower level, to a level higher than the new Doctor’s already high level. Besides, I was given a promotion, with a generous salary arrears payment a few months afterwards. That was how I accomplished in less than six (6) months, what would have taken me nearly eight (8) years. I give God all the glory!

I must confess here that initially, I felt my boss’ action was very insensitive, unkind, and uncalled-for. Now, I thank him for creating an avenue for God to promote me higher, faster, and as if I was in the dreamland (Psalm 126:1). God strengthened me throughout my trial (Isaiah 41:10), and proved first-hand that He is for me, and so, no one can be against me (Romans 8:31).

Friend, are you facing any trial at the moment? Is it caused by a work related issue? Is it caused by an illness? Is it caused by joblessness? Is it caused by lack, or a fractured family set up? Is it caused by the death of a beloved one? Or, is it caused by oppression from certain quarters? If it is, then rejoice, for God is set to promote you, and He will do everything possible, including using your current trial, to actualize His plans for you (Isaiah 45:2-3).

He will use your illness to promote you to sound health (Jeremiah 30:17). He will use your lack to promote you to prosperity (Psalm 35:27 (KJV)). He will use the fracture in your family to promote you, and your entire family shall serve God with you subsequently (Joshua 24:15). He will use your weeping to promote you to the level where you will experience unspeakable joy (Psalm 30:5).

Please, be ready for God! He will promote you at work; He will promote you in your business; He will promote you in your ministry, etc. (Psalm 75:6), and your life will never be the same again, in Jesus name. Amen.

Jesus is Lord!
