Today, I recall with permission, the story of Tommy (not his real name because he wants to remain anonymous) who was prompted in the Spirit to make a specific move at a crucial point in his life. He did, and got extraordinary results afterwards.

Tommy moved abroad at the invitation of his friend to further his career. And, before he left his country, his friend promised to support him in all possible ways, and he believed. Thus, he resigned from his job, sold his belongings to raise some money, and jetted out.

Initially, Tommy’s friend was very nice to him, but, he changed quickly, and made life unbearable for him. At some point, he (Tommy) wanted to return home, but, to what? He asked himself repeatedly. In the end, he kept his cool, studied very hard, and passed his examinations, only to find out that he couldn’t find a job in that country, and he became really frustrated.

One day, as he was pondering over his ordeals, especially as his host was about to kick him out, he was prompted in the Spirit to move out and fend for himself. That looked like an unwise thing to do, since he had no place to move to, or any person to turn to anyway.  But, he was assured in the Spirit that God would support him to the hilt if he obeyed, and he did.

By faith, Tommy approached an estate agent for a flat, even though he had no money to pay the rent yet. Then, on the day he was asked to pay a deposit and collect the keys into his would be flat, the Lord showed Himself mighty in his life. First, he got a sudden call that he had landed a job, which he had lost all hopes of ever getting. Then, his brother paid a decent amount of money into his bank account just around that time.

So, he went to the estate agent with confidence, paid the required deposit, went to his friend’s house, thanked him, collected his belongings, and moved out into his own flat; in other words, he moved into total freedom and a new beginning. Today, Tommy is doing well with his family. Truly, God supported him to the hilt!

Several people in the bible were divinely prompted to move out of their comfort zones when it seemed unwise to do so. For instance, Abraham, was told to move to an alien country at an old age (Genesis 12:1). Noah was told to build an ark (Genesis 6:14). Nehemiah asked to rebuild the wall of Jerusalem (Nehemiah 2:4). Paul went for lost souls all over at huge risk to his life (Acts 21:10-14). Etc. In all these instances, God showed Himself mighty in the lives of those involved, because they obeyed Him. He’ll show himself mighty in yours too, if you obey Him.

Friend, what is God asking you to do today? Is He asking you to change your location so that your situation can change? Is He asking you to change your job or career? Is He asking you to start a business? Is He asking you to enroll for an examination? Is He asking you to write a book? Is He asking you to produce a film? Is He asking you to get married and start your own family? Is He asking you to serve Him in any specific capacity? Etc. If He is, then you need to obey Him right away.  So, what are you waiting for? Please make the move, right now!

Last but not least, let me inform you that God will not leave or forsake you as you obey Him (Deuteronomy 31:6); He will help you all the way through (Isaiah 41:10), and then bless you on top (Deuteronomy 28:1-14), in Jesus name. Amen.

In July 2005, my Sister, Adenike Adegbulu-Aro, called from Nigeria to inform me she would be in London in the third and fourth weeks of that month.  I was very excited on the prospect of seeing her again, and I did all I could to be in London for her.  I also planned a couple of activities to make her visit exciting.  One of them was for us to attend a major outside London Christian crusade on Friday 22nd of July 2005.

I booked us on a coach (bus) ride for the journey early enough, and by the 20th of July, I was already in London, shopping, cooking, and generally getting ready for her arrival.  Regrettably, our journey to the crusade ran into a major hitch due to the attempted bomb attacks on London on Thursday 21st of July, 2005.  Still, we forged ahead with our plans, since the crusade organizers announced it would go on as planned.

But, because of the huge disruption to London’s public transport system during that period, we arrived at the coach station at about 12.00 noon; well after our coach had left at 10.15am. So, we missed it just as quite a lot of others missed theirs, and there was a backlog of restless passengers itching to travel for the crusade.

The coach providers soon released an emergency coach, which could only take a few of us, to ease the situation on ground.  And almost immediately, the surging crowd began to enter it, and as things were then, it seemed we had no chance of ever getting on it, since we were right at the rear of the crowd.  Nonetheless, we kept our peace, and remained open to a miracle from God somehow.

Suddenly, one of the officials pointed in my direction and said, ‘sir, would you like to go on this coach?’. ‘Yes, I would, but with my sister’, I replied.  ‘No problem, both of you should step forward, I will accommodate you’, he concluded.  So, we stepped forward boldly, and the people parted way for us to pass through; of course, they were stunned!  We got to the crusade grounds safely, and we had a great time before God that day.  To cut a long story short, God fished us out, and sorted us out through one of the officials. He is willing to do the same for you today, in Jesus name.  Amen.

God will fish your business out, and bless it (Deuteronomy 28:12). He will fish your children out, and save them (Isaiah 49:25).  He will fish your health out, and fix it (Jeremiah 30:17).  And if you are broken hearted, He will fish you out, and see to you (Psalm 147:3). He will fish your battle out, and fight it for you (Deuteronomy 3:21-22). He will fish your long awaited promotion out, and give it to you on a platter of gold (Psalms 75:6), in Jesus name. Amen.

Barren women will not be left out this time around, for God will fish them out too, and give them their own children (Psalm 113:9).  And those who are broke will be remembered, as God will fish them out, and prosper them (Psalm 35:27). Those who have been written off can now rejoice, because God will fish them out, and give them a future and a hope (Jeremiah 29:11), in Jesus name.  Amen.

Friends, please get ready for this awesome God! Meanwhile, keep praying to Him regarding your deepest heart desire(s), keep praising Him, keep worshipping Him, keep trusting Him to fish you out and sort you out, keep doing good as well, and He will reward you sooner or later (Hebrews 6:10), in Jesus name. Amen.

I remembered Mrs Suzanne (not her real name) recently. She is a very beautiful, gracious, rich, and well connected business woman. Her husband is a top man, close to the corridors of power in Nigeria, and she had all things going on well for her. But, she was barren, and under immense pressure from her husband and his family to give birth to children, or get thrown out of her matrimonial home; a sad, but very familiar occurrence in our culture.

One day, she went to her Gynaecologist, a first-class Professor, on appointment, and after the usual clinical protocols, she was told that she would never be able to give birth to her own children. Thus, confirming what some Gynaecologists in Nigeria and abroad told her in the past. As expected, she was crestfallen, and she cried uncontrollably thereafter. Hers was a very complex and sad story indeed!

As she was crying in a quiet corner of the hospital, another Professor, a non-clinician, accosted and asked her why she was crying, and she narrated her ordeal to him. In the end, the Professor, a born again Christian, told her that Jesus, the greatest Physician ever, could give her children, with or without the help of her Doctors, and she believed. She wasn’t even a Christian at that time, however, one thing led to another, and she gave her life to Christ; she became born-again!

A few months later, she attended a Christian crusade, during which a Pastor prophesied that she would give birth to a baby boy sooner or later. Guess what? She got pregnant that same month without medical help, and gave birth to a bouncing baby boy nine months after. She had other children subsequently, to the glory of God!

Friends, I love the Medical Profession a lot, not only because I belong to it, but more importantly, because God specifically ordained its Practitioners to help people achieve good health (The Apocrypha: Ecclesiasticus 38: 1-15). But, sometimes we fail in carrying out this vital task; in that case, the intervention of God is the only way out. Doctors could not help Mrs Suzanne; God did!

This same God has all it takes to solve every problem, including yours (Jeremiah 32:27), but only through Jesus Christ (John 14:6). You can now see why you should align yourself with Jesus Christ; why you should be born again! If you aren’t yet, please, invite Him into your life today; ask Him to be your personal Lord and Saviour, and He will (John 6:37)! Once this simple but significant step is taken, we believe you are born again (Romans 10:10), and Jesus will be happy to sort you out (Matthew 11:28).

Come on friends, wipe away your tears today, because Jesus is ready to give you rest from your problem(s), if you approach Him (Matthew 11:28). He is ready to solve your infertility problem, and give you your own children (Psalm 113:9). He is ready to put an end to your loneliness by bringing your way, a nice person who will add value to your life (Psalm 84:11).

Your wayward children will soon be straightened out because you fear the Lord (Psalm 112:1-2), and all of you shall serve Him together (Joshua 24:15). Moreover, God is ready to promote you, and nothing can stop Him (Psalm 75:6-7)! Perhaps your business or Ministry is not doing well lately, don’t worry; God will breathe life into it (Deuteronomy 30:9), and it will flourish rapidly, vastly, and beyond your wildest imagination (Ephesians 3:20).

Friend, please get ready for a special touch of God, which will thrust you years and years ahead, dignify you, and gladden your heart, in Jesus name. Amen.

Jesus is Lord!

There was a period of National protest in Nigeria in June 1994. It was organized by NADECO, a pro-democracy group, and aimed at resisting the senseless annulment of the country’s free, fair, and credible presidential election of June 12, 1993.

During the period, my home town, Akure, Nigeria, where I lived, was in total lockdown. As a result, many people were inconvenienced; my father was one of them! Before then, he was constantly in and out of the hospital on account of ill-health. Shutting down hospitals therefore, was bad for him. So, I moved him to my house for close monitoring and medical intervention, if need be.

Early one morning, I went out for my usual road walk, but along the line, I was prompted in the Spirit to return home immediately. I didn’t understand why, but I complied anyway. What exactly is happening in my house? I asked myself repeatedly, till I got there.

To my relief, everyone I saw was fine. Where is Daddy? I asked, as I dashed to the guest room; there I found him gasping for breath; obviously in great discomfort, and before I could help him, he stopped breathing. He became still, and unresponsive to stimuli. Besides, he had no palpable pulses, and his pupils were fixed and dilated.

Daddy is dead! I shouted; crying, and administering cardiopulmonary resuscitation on him simultaneously. This I did for about 35 minutes at first. My wife was with me, praying loudly in the spirit, and urging me on. Lawyer Olumide Tomiwa, Sister Foluke Akinnadeju Tomiwa’s husband, and Akinleye Akinseye, my brother in-law, were also on hand, encouraging me, and praying to God to return Daddy back to us. No doubt, they were God sent!

I stopped resuscitating my father on the dot of 35 minutes, and I told the people around, in between sobs, that his case was hopeless. I also told them that if he came around at all, he would be brain damaged, since his heart had stopped beating for more than five minutes, and I wasn’t ready for that.

But my wife urged me to continue, and I did for another 10 minutes. That means I was on my father for about 45 minutes. Eventually, I gave up, and stepped aside to pray/thank God for his life, and figure out how I would move his lifeless body to the mortuary. Meanwhile, the folks with me did not stop praying! And after what looked like eternity to me, Daddy sneezed suddenly; then, he opened his eyes, and moved. Within minutes, he sat up, and started to thank God for sparing his life; tears flowing down his face.

Daddy is alive! I shouted, this time louder than I did when I announced his death earlier on. Immediately, we began to rejoice; we sang, danced, and lifted the name of the Lord together. I later gave a testimony regarding what God did for my father in our church, and His name was hugely glorified.

At this point, I will like to state that Daddy did not suffer brain damage at any time afterwards (Ecclesiastes 3:14)! He remained ever so agile, clever, witty, courageous, and focussed to the end. Above all, he became born-again in December 1994, during one of our outreaches. Prior to that time, Daddy detested born-again Christians, and encouraged us to avoid them! He subsequently served the Lord with all his might, and passed on to glory five (5) years later, on the 22nd of December 1999, aged 75. I give God praise for his life, in Jesus name. Amen.

Friends, the Spirit of God that brought my father back to life is dwelling in you right now, and can make everything that is dead in your life live again (Romans 8:11). He can make your health that seems dead live again (Jeremiah 30:17). He can make your dead womb live again (Deuteronomy 7:12-13a). He can make your dead dreams live again (Psalm 32:8).

He can make your dead business live again (Deuteronomy 28:8). He can make your children who are as good as dead, because of circumstances beyond their control, live again (Isaiah 49:25). He can make your relationship with Him, which is dead, live again (Jeremiah 31:3), etc. But, you have to play your own part very well; you have to pray to Him to intervene in your life/situation first of all. After that, you have to believe that He will sort you out at some point, and He will (Mark 11:24), in Jesus name. Amen.

NB. Our Ministry is eleven (11) years old today (01.05.15). Glory be to God Almighty! Amen!!

While addressing His disciples, Jesus Christ said: ”But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth”(Acts 1:8).

Above is a highly valued biblical passage for it rightly portrays the Holy Spirit as He should. He is the driving force behind all committed Christians and if truth be told, it is doubtful if we can achieve anything meaningful without Him. That’s why Jesus Christ laid emphasis on the need for the Holy Spirit to replace Him on earth (John 16:7) so as to make our lives easy to deal with.

The Holy Spirit made His debut in history on the day of Pentecost (Acts 2:1-4) and He assists humanity in many ways. For example, He guides us into all truth and tells us things to come (John 16:13). He also helps, teaches and reminds us all things (John 14:26). Besides, He is instrumental to our being able to speak with new tongues (Acts 2:4). A lot of people received the Holy Spirit via the laying of hands (Acts 8:17) but it worth’s being mentioned here, that the disciples received Him when Jesus breathed on them (John 20:22).

When the Holy Spirit descends on an individual, He confers on him or her immense power to carry out great exploits (Acts 1:8). Sadly, many people do not fall for this truth. To them, there is nothing exceptional about the Holy Spirit or at best, He is a mystery which has no role to play in today’s world therefore, He should be ignored. Well, I disagree with such people and I want to prove them wrong by demonstrating that the Holy Spirit is undeniably real, powerful and relevant in this era. I will give some examples, out of the several things, that He is capable of assisting us to do and I will support each example, with a suitable testimony. They are:

1. Witnessing to People

Witnessing to people and winning souls for Christ are wise and rewarding activities that every committed Christians should engage in (Proverbs 11:30, Daniel 12:3). But this can only be possible with the power of the Holy Spirit. No wonder, my earliest Pastor made sure that we got baptised in the Holy Spirit on time. And immediately afterwards, we were filled with immense power to boldly witness to everyone in sight and nothing could stop us (Acts 1:8). The Holy Spirit also stirred us to witness to people through Drama Ministration, Christian Journalism, Televangelism, Preaching, Teaching, Youth Mentoring and the Care of the Elderly among others. Meanwhile, these were activities that most of us were too busy, too indifferent and probably too ‘posh’ to go into ab-initio. But with the help of the Holy Spirit, we embraced and utilized them effectively to lead many souls to Christ. You too can achieve a similar feat and even more, through the power of the Holy Spirit. But you have to seek Him first.

2. Healing the Sick

While on earth, Jesus Christ healed the sick with the power of the Holy Spirit (Acts 10:38) and He wants us to do same in this age as well (Mark 16:15-18). As a Medical Doctor and a Christian, I can boldly attest to the fact yes; we care but it is God that heals and He does so through the Holy Spirit. In fact, it is only the Holy Spirit that makes improbable healing probable. I will now narrate a testimony to back this notion up.

Around 1.30 am one day, a three and a half year old boy was rushed to us in Benin City, Nigeria with Severe Malaria Fever and Severe Anaemia (his blood level was dangerously low and incompatible with life). He was in the throes of death when he came in and as part of our treatment plan, he was to have urgent blood transfusion otherwise, by our estimation, he would die in a jiffy. Sadly, we had no blood in our hospital to transfuse him with and his parents were too poor to go elsewhere for treatment. His condition soon got rapidly worse and the only thing we could do, was to watch and pray and rely on the Holy Spirit to keep him alive as we had by then, done all we possibly could. Miraculously, he stabilized after a while even though, his condition was still very critical. And at 8 am (i.e. over 6 hours of being with us), when the morning shift commenced, some of us pooled resources together and got him properly treated and he recovered fully in a short time. Please remember that we earlier estimated that he would die in a bit without blood transfusion but, the power of the Holy Spirit kept him alive. Approximately two years later, I ran into his mum and she practically dragged me to where he was; smartly dressed in his spotless school uniform, ready to go to school. The power of the Holy Spirit sure healed him. This power is still available for use to heal the sick and you can have it if you wish in Jesus name. Amen.

3. Speaking in Tongue

The Holy Spirit confers on people, the ability to speak in tongues (Acts 2:1-4) and with this, they can by-pass the meddlesomeness of the Devil and his agents and talk directly to God (1 Corinthians 14:2). Speaking in tongue is also an excellent tool for self-edification (1 Corinthians 14:4) so, it is very vital.

When I was in the University, I attended a Christian revival uninvited with a friend and our main mission was to distract the attendees. We heckled the speakers as they mounted the pulpit and generally disrupted the event as much as we could. But to our amazement, nobody paid any significant attention to or got angry with us. At a point, the guest minister asked those who were interested in being baptized in the Holy Spirit to come out and a sizeable part of the congregation headed his call. We didn’t! Next, he spoke in a ‘foreign but funny’ language for what looked like eternity to us and then shouted ‘receive the Holy Spirit in Jesus name’. Immediately, many people, including distinguished university dons, astute administrators, top-notch professionals, students et al; people who undoubtedly, are not idiots, fell down and spoke in all manners of languages. We later learnt that they actually spoke in tongues and we were hugely amazed.

One morning, not long after I gave my life to Christ, I knelt down in my room and asked the Holy Spirit to give me the power to speak in tongue and He did. Since then, I have been speaking directly to God and winning wars with Him in charge and predictably, no one, not even the Devil, can come between us. You too can speak in tongue, talk directly to God and win your wars without outside interference. But you need the Holy Spirit to empower you for this purpose to start with.

4. Prophesying

Being able to prophesy is another invaluable asset that all forward looking Christians should covet (1 Corinthians 14:39) and God is willing to endow us with the power of the Holy Spirit to do so (Joel 2:28).

A powerful establishment once owed me a sizeable amount of money and they consistently and arrogantly refused to pay me for about two years. So, I had no choice than to report them to God! Then one day, in the course of our Morning Prayer meeting, our Deacon, full of the power of the Holy Spirit, prophesied that my money would be paid very shortly and I believed him. Meanwhile, I had never discussed this problem with him at any time before then. Anyway, I got a phone call from the establishment later that day, and the caller advised me to represent my bill for immediate settlement. I complied with his advice and I was settled in full within a week.

This same power is still available for use for your benefit and that of others and you can have it if you wish, in Jesus name. But you need to have the Holy Spirit in your life to begin with.

Friend, we have so far read some testimonies to highlight what the Holy Spirit is capable of doing and to prove that His power is real. And as you may have noticed, this power is a must have for all self-respecting Christians. It is my prayer that you will seek, retain and make a very good use it in Jesus name. Amen. But before then, you have to do certain things first.

First, you must give your life to Christ i.e., you must be born again if you haven’t yet. When this is sorted out, you must seek to be filled with the Power of the Holy Spirit. For this, you may wish to ask your Pastor or any of his or her representatives to help you. And once you have it (i.e. the power of the Holy Spirit), you will be armed fittingly to witness to people boldly and win their souls Christ. You will also have the liberty to heal the sick, speak in tongues and prophesy in the name of the Lord. Furthermore, it will stir you up to respect, love and care for other people and they will know that indeed, you are a child of the most high God (Matthew 7:16) and they will be happy to follow you all the way to Christ and to Heaven. Finally, God will reward you abundantly (Matthew 25:21) and your joy will be full in Jesus name. Amen.

Jesus is Lord!

Some years back, I went to the High Commission of a major European country in Lagos, Nigeria to book a visa interview appointment as a first timer; my wife was there with me!  Ordinary, such event shouldn’t be a big deal but it usually was in our setting due to the hassles involved.

In the past, applicants went to the High Commission to book their visa interview appointments in person and that meant going there to join the usually long and rowdy queues formed daily.  In order to lessen their burden therefore, many of them arrived at the place sometimes as early as 2.00 am each day.  Unfortunately, that wasn’t enough to guarantee their being attended to at the end of the day.  And most of the subsequent visa interviews that took place weeks or months after appointments were given, ended up in disappointment.

In any case, we got to the High Commission around 10.00 am because of my earlier commitments and as expected, we met hundreds, if not thousands of disorderly people, on various queues; sweating, yelling, cursing, pushing and fighting.  And the Nigerian security men on duty that day made the situation even worse as they were more interested in brutalizing the people rather than maintaining law and order.  All above and more seriously discouraged me and I opted to return to my base after all, I knew I could remain in Nigeria, excel and help people get well as a medical doctor.  That was my thinking but God’s was different (Isaiah 55:8).  He wanted me out of the country!

So, as we were going back to our car, 2 Chronicles 20:15 flashed through my mind.  It says: ”…Do not be afraid nor dismayed because of this great multitude, for the battle is not yours but God’s”.  Instantly, I knew God was ready to fight my visa ‘battle’ for me irrespective of the prevailing intimidating atmosphere and this stirred us to turn back and I approached the meanest looking security officer in sight.  I told him what my mission was all about and I asked him to act on it.  Immediately, there was great silence all around as everyone waited for him to deal with me mercilessly.  Anyway, he only looked at me menacingly and then shouted ‘’who are you by the way?’’ And I introduced myself to him very calmly, mindful of the enormous power at our disposal (1 John 4:4).

Soon, his contorted face began to relax into a lovely smile, and he commanded his men to open the massive gates of the High Commission for us to come in through them. After that, he held my hand very gingerly, and led us into a vast waiting room, where he introduced us to his colleagues, as his “special friends and in-laws from his home town’’ and he pleaded with them to assist us as quickly, and as much as possible. Remember that this was a man I had never met before, and who would have been very glad to brutalize me a short time earlier.

And in next to no time, a young, amiable official of the High Commission attended to us.  To begin with, he perused my papers and said they were excellent therefore; I needed no further visa interview.  That was an unimaginable occurrence in our setting because even if your papers were okay, you still had to go through the mandatory visa interview.  Next, he asked me to pay the required visa fees to the cashier and I did.  Guess what? I was issued a valid visa in less than 3 hours from the time we arrived at the place; a feat that took most people several weeks, months, years or even a life time to accomplish.  Not even the rich, powerful and highly connected people close to the corridors of power in Nigeria could boast of such a feat.  In a nutshell, God the famous warrior, fought and won my (His) Visa battle for me spectacularly, and all the people that heard my story were amazed, and they joined us to glorify His holy name (Psalm 126:1).

Friend, I have gone this far to let you know that you needn’t fear your battles or fight them by yourself anymore.  Please, hand them over to God in prayer today as they are His anyway, and He will make mincemeat of them.  He did so for me and countless number of people globally; He’ll do same for you too in Jesus name.  Amen.   Remember that our God is mighty in battle (Psalm 24:8)!
